The Specialized Investigative Department for the Investigation of Crimes Committed using information and Telecommunications Technologies of the SU Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Stavropol has completed the investigation of a criminal case initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal access to computer information".
The illegal act was detected and stopped by employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Stavropol Territory, together with colleagues from the Federal Security Service of the region.
In the near future, a 41-year-old resident of Stavropol will go to the dock. Using special software on a personal computer, the man gained access to the logins and passwords of employees of one of the major Internet service providers. He used the obtained data to log in to the server, where he was able to change his tariff plan and regularly earn bonuses in his personal account. Thus, the man for four years used the opportunity to access the Internet for free.
In the Department of Internal Affairs, the accused confessed to the crime.
The investigation is now complete. The materials of the criminal case with the approved indictment were sent to the Industrial District Court of Stavropol for consideration on the merits.
