The politician called for the repeal of the law that gives protection to online platforms.

Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed concern about the growing influence of artificial intelligence and deepfake technology, calling them "a completely new type of threat." At the Aspen Digital conference on elections and artificial intelligence, she noted that using her image to create disinformation is evidence of the rapid development of these technologies.

Clinton said that during the 2016 election, she and her team encountered misinformation spread through social networks, but could not fully understand the scale of the threat. Today, she is concerned about how fast artificial intelligence is developing in this direction, and how many people believe in misinformation when they see it in their social media feeds.

In her speech, Clinton addressed the issue of section 230 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which provides immunity to online platforms in relation to user-generated content. She called for the abolition of this section, considering it one of the key factors that allow disinformation to spread online. In her opinion, the repeal of section 230 will not reduce the profits of technology companies if they change their algorithms in such a way as to prevent the spread of malicious content.

Clinton stressed the importance of taking action against negative and viral content on the web, expressing dissatisfaction with the fact that Section 230 is still being discussed, despite its clear impact on the spread of misinformation.
