A preliminary investigation of a criminal case on fraudulent actions against pensioners has been completed by an investigator of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Four residents of the city of Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo region, will appear in court.
According to investigators, one of the attackers, acting in the interests of the organizers of the criminal scheme, found three accomplices in early 2023. The four of them were supposed to act as couriers.
"Unknown people called pensioners and reported that their relatives were allegedly responsible for the accident. They demanded money to settle the situation. After the victims agreed, the defendants came to them and took the money. The scammers transferred the received funds to the curators, but kept 10% of the amount for themselves.
Thus, the attackers operated on the territory of the Kemerovo region and the Krasnoyarsk Territory. 24 episodes of fraudulent actions were established, the total damage to citizens exceeded nine million rubles, " said Irina Volk, an official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
In the course of operational search activities, police officers detained the previously convicted coordinator and three of his accomplices. A criminal case has been opened by an investigator of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Krasnoyarsk Territory on the grounds of a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
"At present, the preliminary investigation of the criminal case has been completed. With the indictment approved by the prosecutor, it is sent to the court for consideration on the merits. The police are carrying out activities aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the illegal activity and searching for its organizers," Iryna Volk said.
