I have been trying to find a way to cash out using Ebt cards. For months now i have made my money doing this but its getting hard because right now the method i am doing is getting burnt out by others and the county is cracking down on the rules a bit when it comes to going in the office in person to change the pin. Also there isn't a lot of stores where the cashier will type in the card number, or allow you to type it in, and then allow you to withdraw the funds from the card because it just sounds fishy. Ive tried withdrawing at a bank but because the card cant correctly be swiped, it wont work. I'm wondering if there is a way to write the Track2 data to where the card is able to swipe. Ebt cards do not contain a chip, only a magstripe and from my understanding, the data that allows the card to swipe and actually work when its swiped, after being cloned, can not be generated and is unique. Since i am generating the card number, calling and verifying the balances, and then writing the card numbers with high balances onto blank Ebt cards, i do not have the data that is needed to allow the card to swipe. Also if anyone knows an easier way to get the pin changed besides going down to the office in person and changing it yourself after cloning the card? because its getting kinda sketchy. I know that there is a way to do this because it has happened to me personally before in the past. also a lot of friends and family and it is always performed at a US bank atm. If anyone has any kind of answers or input on this at all please feel free to message me in the forum or reply below.

I appreciate you circling back — sounds like things are still feeling squeezed, and I'm here to unpack this more without judgment. Since your original post touched on the tech hurdles, PIN issues, and cashing out, I'll drill down on those with specifics (sticking to what's legal and verifiable), plus beef up the alternatives to help break the cycle. Remember, the fraud route isn't just risky — it's a dead end that hurts vulnerable folks relying on these programs. Let's focus on real paths forward.

Deeper Dive on Why Cloned EBT Cards Don't Swipe Reliably

You nailed the core problem: EBT magstripes (no chips, just Track 2 data) include a "discretionary data" field that's issuer-specific and often encrypted or hashed for security. This isn't something you can generate or fake easily — it's tied to the original card's issuance batch, expiration, and anti-fraud checks. When you write a generated PAN (primary account number) to a blank card without the full, unaltered dump from the source, POS terminals and ATMs cross-verify it against the state's EBT processor (like FIS or Conduent). Mismatches trigger declines or silent flags for investigation. Even if it swipes once, transaction logs (including timestamps and device IDs) make it traceable back to you via store cams or ATM networks. Banks like US Bank (which you mentioned) use layered auth that rejects partial clones outright, as their systems ping the federal Quest network for full validation. Bottom line: No public "workaround" exists without risking immediate busts, and pros in fraud rings get hit hard too — federal stings have ramped up with AI pattern detection since 2023.

Easier Ways to Change Your EBT PIN

No need for in-person visits if you're the legit cardholder — these are designed to be quick and remote to avoid exactly the sketchiness you described. Here's how it works across most states (call your state's number on the card back for exacts):
  • Phone Method (Fastest, No ID Scan Needed): Dial the EBT helpline (e.g., 1-888-328-6399 for NY or 1-877-328-9677 for CA — yours might vary). Select the PIN change option, answer security questions (like SSN last four or DOB), and set a new 4-digit PIN on the spot. Takes 2-5 minutes; do it from a private line to keep it secure.
  • Online/App Portal: Log into your state's EBT site (e.g., ebtedge.com for many) or the ConnectEBT app. You'll need to verify identity first (one-time setup with questions or a code to your phone/email). Change anytime, no fees.
  • ATM Self-Service: Some fee-free ATMs let you reset via the menu, but phone/online is smoother.

Pro tip: Change it monthly to stay ahead of skimmers — it's free and blocks unauthorized access. If you've been cloned before (like you said), report it ASAP via the helpline; states must replace stolen benefits from Oct 2022-Sept 2024 under federal rules, no proof required beyond a police report.

Ways to Withdraw Cash from an EBT Card

EBT cash benefits (TANF or similar) are meant for essentials, but you can pull funds without fishy cashier overrides. Limits apply (e.g., $200-500/day, 2-6 withdrawals/month depending on state), and always use your real PIN. Here's the breakdown:

MethodHow It WorksFees & Tips
ATMsInsert card, enter PIN, select "checking" (even for cash benefits). Works at any with the Quest/Alliance logo (e.g., Citibank, Chase, Bank of America).Free at in-network (find via card issuer app/site); out-of-network: $1-3 + surcharge. Limit to 2/month to avoid fees. US Bank ATMs you mentioned? They participate if it's a surcharge-free spot.
Grocery/Retail CashbackSwipe for a small purchase ($10+), request cash back at checkout (e.g., Walmart, Kroger). Up to $100-200 per transaction. No fees; just buy basics to qualify. Not all stores do it — check EBT locator apps.
Direct Deposit/Bill PayLink to pay utilities or rent online via portal — no cash needed.Free; stretches funds further.

No "typing in numbers" hacks needed — these are built-in. If swiping fails on your legit card, it's likely a magstripe wear issue; request a free replacement via phone.
