It is not always convenient to store or transfer finances using a card, for a variety of reasons. For example, you are not satisfied with the interest for transferring money to a card of another bank. In this case, it is worth starting an electronic wallet.

How to choose the best option, replenish your account and withdraw money - we will figure this out.

What is an electronic wallet

An electronic wallet is a virtual payment instrument, software installed on a smartphone or computer. With it, you can pay for a product or service online, transfer money to a bank card, so that in the future, if you wish, you can cash it out.

An alternative to an electronic wallet is Internet banking. But not all owners of online projects offer to transfer money through a bank, they say it is expensive or inconvenient. Therefore, people who make money on the Internet - programmers, designers, translators, copywriters and many others - are paid for their work in an electronic wallet.

Some e-wallets allow you to create a virtual card and use it to pay for purchases offline. For example, in a supermarket through a POS terminal.

Let's take a look at the main advantages and disadvantages of e-wallets.

The advantages of using are:
  • Simple registration. It takes place online, in a few steps following clear instructions.
  • The electronic payment system is widespread: goods and services are available for purchase without leaving home.
  • Service of e-wallets is free, unlike many bank cards.
  • There is a possibility of instant transactions of payment, transfers and withdrawal of funds. Small delays can occur when an intermediary is involved.
  • You can exchange currency at the rate of the payment system.
  • The virtual card is valid for a limited time, but it only takes a few minutes online to register a new one.

But it is worth paying attention to the following points:
  • Electronic money is easier to spend than real banknotes. Psychological nuance: invisible funds leave without regret, unlike bills that can be held in hand.
  • An electronic wallet without reference to a bank card is available only if the Internet is available.
  • If the wallet is not verified, it may be difficult to restore the profile if it is lost.
  • Despite the widespread adoption of digital payment systems, not all stores support electronic payment.
Important! If the smartphone is lost, fraudsters can gain access to the electronic wallet. Always set a strong password. Duplicate the program on your home computer - at any time you can enter additional security settings.

Types of e-wallets

E-wallets differ from each other in several ways:
  • Account replenishment options: through a payment terminal, ATM, using a special prepaid card, from a mobile phone balance, from a bank card, and so on.
  • Commission fee for financial transactions.
  • The degree of security of data and transfers.
  • Currency support: some wallets work only with national money, some with different currencies.
  • Services provided by the payment system and its partners: auto payments, currency exchange, issuing a virtual card, cashback and similar offers.
  • Convenience of the interface.
  • User support and timely software updates.
Otherwise, these are combinations of the previous points.

Which e-wallet is better to choose

Each e-wallet has its own advantages; in the face of fierce competition for financial flows, no two products are alike.

Someone will have enough mobile electronic money to pay for basic services, while someone is looking for more functionality: the choice depends on the tasks that need to be solved by a specific person.

It is often required to create several wallets:
  • Pay for services and cash out virtual money from a card with a minimum commission in your country.
  • Buy products on overseas trading platforms such as AliExpress, Amazon, E-Bay and others.
  • Invest in cryptocurrency or precious metals.
  • Receive money transfers as payment for labor from foreign customers.
  • Keep money.
For example, WebMoney can block a wallet for participating in HYIP projects, unlike Perfect Money or Payeer.

Qiwi and AdvCash do not charge a commission for transfers between wallets of their users, and withdrawing money to a card is beneficial with Perfect Money (from 2%) or Payeer (1.99%).

It is worth carefully studying the terms of service, the service offered and the currency of the wallet. This is the only way to make the right choice that will meet all the needs of the user.

How to create an electronic wallet

Each payment system has its own website.

The approach to registration may differ, for example: AdvCash requires an e-mail address, Qiwi - a phone number, and PayPal will require personal data, a bank card.

Despite the low requirements for registration in some payment systems, account verification removes many restrictions and provides the user with more tools. In Perfect Money, this is a lower commission for transfers, and in Qiwi, they increase the limits and open the possibility of cashing out funds.

To verify your account, you need to upload scanned copies of several pages of your passport into the form provided on the website.

Registration of a new user, as a rule, is a simple procedure, which at all stages is accompanied by explanatory comments of the system.

Replenishment of e-wallets

You can deposit money to a virtual account in different ways:
  • From a bank card, using the services of online services, without leaving home.
  • From a bank card on the website of the payment system.
  • From mobile phone balance.
  • Via a payment terminal, in the category "Money transfers".
  • Via internet bank.
  • Bank transaction.
  • Through an ATM.
  • Cash in bank branches.
On the website of any payment system, the available options for replenishing the account are indicated. For example, Global Money offers commission-free replenishment in such trading networks as ALLO, MobiZhuk, Fishki.yua or Privat24 for one hryvnia, regardless of the amount.

How to withdraw money from an electronic wallet

You can withdraw virtual currency like this:
  • Through a bank or payment card.
  • Money or postal order in your name.
  • Through dealers who cash out electronic money, earning interest.
For withdrawing money to the card, a commission is charged, which can vary greatly for different payment systems. At the same time, transfers within the system can be commission-free, and the dealer's percentage is less than for withdrawing to a card.

The choice of an electronic wallet can be quite difficult due to their variety. We hope you found this article helpful and helped you narrow down the list of suitable service options.
