Dilettantes from the CIA almost revealed the intelligence of their informants.

A cybersecurity researcher from the United States, Kevin McsHihan, identified a vulnerability in the CIA account on the social network X (Twitter), preventing possible interception of data by CIA informants. The incident was reported by BBC News.

The 37-year-old McsHihan discovered that due to an error in the system, a link intended to communicate with the CIA via Telegram could have been intercepted by intruders for subsequent theft of US intelligence information.

On September 27, a link to a Telegram channel with instructions for anonymous communication with the agency appeared on the CIA account. However, due to a failure in the link display system, the original URL (t.me/securelycontactingcia) was shortened to an unregistered Telegram username (t.me/securelycont).

McsHihan immediately recognized the potential threat and registered this username on Telegram, redirecting anyone who tried to contact the CIA to his personal channel. On the channel, the researcher posted a warning that the channel is not an official CIA channel, and urged users not to transmit confidential information.

McsHehan called his actions a "precautionary measure" and was surprised that the CIA did not notice the problem earlier, even though it had already appeared on Site X. The specialist stressed that without his intervention, "many attacks could have occurred." The CIA promptly fixed the problem after notifying Mcshihan.
