Wukong can now conduct a full-fledged quantum war with other systems.
Chinese quantum computer Origin Wukong received a new protection against attacks of quantum systems 3 months after access to it was opened to the whole world.
Origin Wukong, China's first third-generation superconducting quantum computer, has been equipped with a new encryption technology designed to ensure the security of operational data. The development and use of the "shield against quantum attacks" was first implemented by Origin Quantum.
Origin Wukong Quantum Supercomputer
The Chinese superconducting quantum computer is now capable of both attack and defense in the field of quantum computing, according to a research center for quantum computing in Anhui Province. It is also noted that such work is an important direction in the application of new data security technologies in China.
In 2020, Origin launched its first superconducting quantum computer, and the following year brought the second-generation Wuyuan 24-qubit machine to market —the country's first quantum computer. China has become the third country after Canada and the United States to supply full-fledged quantum computing systems.
The third generation, Wukong, is equipped with a 72-qubit superconducting quantum chip of its own production. In January 2024, the computer began providing remote access to users from all over the world, including countries such as the United States, Bulgaria, Singapore, Japan, Russia and Canada.
Unlike traditional computers, where the basic unit of information is a bit representing 0 or 1, a qubit can simultaneously represent 0, 1, or both values. This theoretically allows quantum computers to perform significantly faster and more powerful calculations.
However, quantum particles are very fragile and can easily break due to environmental influences, so most quantum computers operate in isolated and extremely cold environments. The Wukong chip operates at a temperature close to absolute zero (-273.15℃) and is installed in a special refrigerator in a vacuum environment before starting.
