On the second Tuesday of February, the world community celebrates Safe Internet Day
8 tips to protect against fraud.
Today is World Safer Internet Day. The purpose of the holiday is to inform people about the responsible and safe use of the network. In honor of this event, the cyber police of Ukraine shared recommendations for improving cyber hygiene.
TOP Tips for Improving Internet Security
1. Create strong, complex passwords and do not set the same password for multiple resources.
To find out if your passwords have been compromised, use the Google Password Manager service. Apple device owners can also view the Passwords section of Settings to see which of their passwords have been previously compromised and need to be replaced.

2. Do not follow questionable hyperlinks.
Most often, infected letters come by mail, they note in the cyber police. But phishing links can also come in SMS or messages on social networks - including from relatives, close friends or acquaintances whose accounts have been hacked. To learn how to recognize Scam, PaySpace Magazine editorial explains in detail the material.
3. Do not use your financial phone number to log in to social networks.
Also, for the safety of the financial number, we recommend that you link it to your passport. Thus, fraudsters will not be able to get a new SIM card with your phone number from the mobile operator.
4. Do not send confidential information and photos of documents in messengers.
If you still need to quickly send documents, use the disappearing messages function in Telegram. By the way, now the messenger allows you to completely delete secret chats created by group users, as well as clear entries in the call history on both sides. Therefore, if your personal information was sent in the messenger, it's time to restore cyber order.
5. Download programs and applications only from official sources.
For example, in 2019, Ukrainian cyber police officers exposed a hacker who hacked into victims' computers using an update for video games.
Also, do not forget to regularly update the device software to newer versions. Often, with these updates, developers fix security holes in the system.
6. Give preference to the Internet from your mobile operator over the public WI-FI network.
7. Use antivirus software.
8. Use two-factor authentication using two different types of data. For example, a password and a confirmation code that comes to the phone.
These tips will help you minimize the risks of becoming a victim of online scams and protect your financial information and other data while using the Internet.
