- Supports compression dictionary sizes greater than 1 GB for the RAR archive format. Depending on the amount of available physical memory, you can choose a dictionary of up to 64 GB.
- Ability to specify dictionary sizes that are not powers of two for dictionaries over 4 GB, allowing you to use values such as 5 GB or 22 GB.
- Archives with dictionaries over 4 GB can only be unpacked using WinRAR version 7.0 or later. To unpack archives with dictionaries over 1 GB, you need a 64-bit version of WinRAR.
- Increasing the size of the dictionary can improve the compression ratio for large files with widely spaced duplicate blocks, such as virtual machine disk images, as well as for sets of large, similar files in a solid archive, such as collections of software images that differ in version or localization.
- WinRAR offers a dialog box with a suggestion to cancel or continue decompressing if the size of the dictionary in the extracted RAR archive exceeds the "Maximum dictionary size allowed for extraction" parameter in the compression settings, which avoids unexpected excessive memory allocation.
