On the other hand, personal change can be a daunting task. It's not difficult to understand the process, but it can be stressful. It takes a lot of energy, you must clearly know what to do and pay attention to it.

And you may find that a lot of people don't stick to things that require them to put in some effort. On days like these, more often than ever, you see a lot of fun and distracting things around. We can get short-term rewards so easily, so why put in the extra effort to reach a long-term goal?

Okay, there are at least two reasons why the change should be made. One is that the reward for doing this is much greater than the short-term reward you can get from doing nothing. And the second is that the cost of doing nothing is much greater than the cost of changing. If you stay in one place all the time, you will be unhappy, bored, and you will not respect yourself.

How to build commitment
Probably, if for the first time you fantasize about the future you want to achieve, then think about the negative aspects of the current situation and deliberately oppose fantasy with reality, you are most likely making plans and worrying about achieving the goal instead of doing this or that (or arrange it in the correct order). You need to really get down to business, work harder, and perform better.

You need to both pull and push. Attract fantasies about the future, but push away the unpleasant moments of the present. Nothing really good will happen if you don't change. Neither one nor the other, however, is insufficient for the necessary motivation.

There is one more thing though - you have to believe that you can achieve the goal, otherwise you will not want to commit to action.

Technique of getting motivation to achieve a goal
Here, in fact, is the very technique of getting motivation, in which there is nothing scary:
  1. Find the main area of your target. What makes your boat sail? Where do you feel more confident? What triggers your passion? If you are not waving your arms or gasping for breath while talking about this, then most likely this is not your goal - try again.
  2. Find something you can think of doing in this area. To do this, you need to go far beyond where you are now, but not to such a pompous and amazing degree, when you secretly believe that this is impossible for you.
  3. Close your eyes and imagine, as vividly as possible, with all five senses, that these things are actually happening. Play a short movie about it in your head. Make it as real as you can. Enjoy it.
  4. Now go back to the present and look at the gaps, the huge missing pieces, that are where your dreams should be. Start hating doing nothing.
  5. Consciously juxtapose the fantasies of the future and the emptiness of the present, compare them. Weigh them mentally in your hands. Experiment with dissonance.
  6. Stand up and do one thing that moves you towards your goal and allows you to express your commitment. Fix your gaze on this.
  7. Repeat until the goal is achieved. Then set a new goal.

Doing nothing is worse than change. Don't just walk away, run away from doing nothing.
