Whonix 17.2 distribution is available

Major changes:

* Updated builds based on components of the secure Kicksecure distribution, which extends Debian with additional mechanisms and settings to improve security (AppArmor for isolation, installing updates via Tor, using the tally2 PAM module to protect against password guessing, expanding entropy for RNGs, disabling suid, no open network ports by default, using recommendations from the KSPP project (Kernel Self Protection Project), adding protection against leakage of information about CPU activity, etc.).

* The Tor network is connected by default (without calling the connection wizard on the first boot). Users who need a direct network connection are asked to call ACW (Anon Connection Wizard) separately.

* Whonix-Firewall has been switched from iptables to nftables.

* Improved IPv6 support.

• Work continued on an experimental Live build of Whonix-Host equipped with an installer. The build is based on the Kicksecure environment and is designed to provide a secure host environment for running VMs with "Whonix-Gateway" and "Whonix-Workstation".

* Updated Tor and Tor Browser versions.

* Changes have been made to support the Bisq 2 decentralized P2P network for exchanging and trading cryptocurrencies.

* Updated templates for Qubes OS. Made the transition from pulseaudio to pipewire. tinyproxy and the SOCKS protocol are used to direct traffic through Tor.

• When running under the KVM hypervisor, the RAM size in the Whonix-Gateway VM settings is increased to 1280 MB, and Whonix-Workstation-to 2048 MB, which corresponds to the previously used settings for VirtualBox.
