The Russian Foreign Ministry is once again on the "cyber front line" against the United States.

The Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern about the US activity in the field of information and communication technologies (ICTs), claiming that a mistake in their use could lead to "direct conflict". This comment was made by Artur Lyukmanov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Information Security Department, in an interview with Newsweek.

According to Lyukmanov, the United States actively uses foreign resources to conduct operations against Russia. He mentioned Ukraine's "IT army" and NATO's "cyber labs" in Eastern Europe as examples. It was also noted that the new US cyber strategy, adopted in the spring, provides the US National Security Agency with the opportunity to "punish" other states for violations in the information space.

In the context of this strategy, the United States seeks to "make attackers unable to conduct long-term campaigns using cyber attacks."

Lyukmanov emphasized the role of the United States in preparing "cognitive wars", arguing that this increases the risks of confrontation between countries. He also stressed that Russia has all the necessary means for self-defense and any aggressive actions against it will have consequences.

The United States regularly accused Russia of hacking attacks against various infrastructure facilities. However, according to Lyukmanov, for ten years of operation of the "hotlines" created to investigate cyber attacks, Washington has not provided convincing evidence of Russia's involvement in these actions.
