A device called an encoder, hereinafter referred to as "enka", will help us to cope with this task. Not to be confused with the rotation angle sensor, which is issued at the first request in search engines.
The encoder is a device for reading, writing, and cloning discount, bank, account, and pass cards with a magnetic stripe of Hi-Co and Lo - Co standards. Also, the encoder should not be confused simply with the card reader, which is visually very similar to the older brother.
A card reader is a device that only reads data from cards.
An encoder is a device that not only reads data from cards, but also writes them.
3. MODELS AND THEIR COST, WHERE TO BUY? 3.1 What enka exist?
* Old enka (MSR206, MSR605), which require additional power from the 220V network, in addition to connecting to the USB port.
They are not very convenient at work, because mobility and constant attachment to the outlet are lost.
* New enka (MSR605X, MSR606, MSRX6) that work exclusively by connecting to the USB port.
They are convenient to use, but they require a constant PC at hand.
* Enka that work in addition to USB - "over the air", i.e. via BlueTooth via a special application for Android and macOS.
They are very convenient to work with, do not require a PC, just have a phone at hand.
3.2 Fundamental differences
• There are no special differences between the MSR206 and MSR605, except for the color of the device and the resource that cannot be fully used up.
Important! Not compatible with macOS.
• There are no special differences between MSR605X and MSR606, except for the resource of 500,000 and 1,000,000 transactions, respectively, which cannot be fully used up if the scale is not industrial.
Important! Compatible with both Windows and macOS.
* MSRX6-smaller than previous models, lightweight and compact.
* MSRX6BT – the same as MSRX6, but additionally works via BlueTooth, which is very convenient for working "live" without a PC.
3.3 Cost, selection, purchase
* Old enka models are sold mainly on eBay, because they have long been discontinued, but, as written above, they are not recommended for purchase;
* New MSR605X and MSR606 cost about the same, the price tag starts from $ 90 on Aliexpress;
* MSRX6 is slightly more expensive than its counterparts and the price tag starts from $ 100 on Aliexpress;
* MSRX6BT is the most expensive, the price tag starts from$ 175 on Aliexpress.
It is recommended to purchase enka from DEFTUN, an American brand made in China. On" Aliexpress " there are devices manufactured by Noname, which do not know how they work and it is not known for how long they will last, so you should not experiment for the sake of$10-20. In case of incorrect operation, you can lose more.
If you do not want to expect delivery from the Middle Kingdom (about 1 month from China), then you can always buy BEU options on eBay from individuals, as well as from speculators who throw a margin of 5,000 rubles on top. Up to 10,000 rubles.
Tip before buying from a private person, be sure to test the device for reading/writing data from the card, so as not to run into a marriage or tubiness. Enka should read / write data from the first time, provided that the card is wired correctly. It is desirable that there is a complete factory set, which includes: a CD with software, 20 blank white cards and a sealed cleaning disc. If all this is available, then 99% of the device is first-hand. To check enka for performance, the presence of a laptop is mandatory!
4. WORKING WITH THE ENCODER 4.1 What is a dump and where can I get it?
* A dump is a collection of information that is recorded on the magnetic stripe of the card. The dump can consist of three tracks (1, 2, 3), or it can only consist of two (1, 2, or 2, 3). The presence of track 2 is mandatory, because this is the main track. Sometimes only 2 tracks are enough to record full-fledged information for deducting points. In most cases, a dump is just a card number that needs to be replaced in the appropriate tracks by overwriting it to the card's magnetic stripe.
* Dumps are sold on the Internet for a certain %. Most Telegram channels are closed, one of which also includes you, if you are reading this manual.
4.2 Software to work with
• For most wired enka, the software is the same, outrageously simple and it is called "MSRX". It is usually offered by the manufacturer on CD in the kit, but it is also easy to Google in the search engine for the query "software for the MSR encoder".
* Software for MSRX6BT is paid (about 1,000 rubles), it is absolutely legal to purchase and download it from Google Play or the App Store, but there may already be hacked versions.
So, in order for the PC to recognize enka, you must first install the drivers, then install the program.
If everything is done correctly, then enka is recognized by the software and you can start working.
Let's look at an example of a dump on a well-known supermarket chain.
The first track contains information about the card number and its accessories.
The second and third tracks also contain the card number.
We do not pay attention to special characters, you do not need to touch them, after clicking on the "Cancel" button, they will disappear.
To read the dump from the card, click the "Read" button and slowly swipe the card in the desired direction.
To write a dump to the card, click the "Write" button and slowly swipe the card in the desired direction. Naturally, after changing the card number to the one that we need.
In order not to make a mistake and make sure everything went properly, you can change the card number in all 3 tracks.
The remaining buttons are unlikely to be required by a novice, so there is no point in mentioning them.
The type of dump may differ, but the meaning is always the same!
5. SECURITY
The purchase of this equipment is not prohibited by law. Encoders are not classified as covert surveillance devices or spy equipment. These devices are used by organizations for their internal needs.
The penalty for using points for personal purposes belonging to a third party is not spelled out in the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, because this is the conditional internal currency of the organization, BUT no one has canceled Article 159 "Fraud".
