Further from the author's words:
There are things that characterize a person as a weak creature from the psychological side. These things we may know, but we will still fall for them and always regret that we did it.

I will write a little about the weaknesses of the human psyche, who can complement this topic, please.

So, let's get started. I will write briefly, because I am very reluctant to describe it, and if you have questions about a specific item, ask them in more detail.

Social proof

The bottom line is that "everyone does it, and I do it", i.e. we blindly believe everything and do it like everyone else. This is certainly wrong. In this way, we can be manipulated. If a certain group of people do something, this is already proof for us, and we are ready to blindly do what everyone else does!

Consistency and commitment

All people try to be consistent. How does this manifest itself? Very simple. For example, you were knocked on the door the day before and asked to sign a paper, let's say this is an agreement on mutual assistance for citizens of our city. The next day they call you and say that you need to come and sweep a small plot, or make a small financial contribution to a children's clinic. You are executing. Why? Because you signed this paper yesterday and you are trying to be consistent.

You may just be asked, "How are you," and you'll say, " Okay, you're going to be fine.": "well, if it's good, then donate $ 1 to the hospital for the elderly", and you will donate, because you are doing well! (I'm not saying that sacrificing is bad, but just for an example).

There is also such a thing as a rule of scarcity, when something is not enough left and you run to buy it, even if this thing is useless.

This is in short = )

Recommended literature:
The Psychology of Influence, Robert Cialdini

In my personal experience, I can say that many people do not underestimate social engineering as a tool for carding and not only. I read literature, it was a long time ago. I still remember many lines and use them in my work

Kevin Mitnick THE ART OF DECEPTION

The Art of Deception shows how vulnerable we all are-government, business, and each of us personally-to the intrusion of social engineers. In this consciously secure era, we spend huge amounts of money on technologies to protect our computer networks and data. This book shows how easy it is to deceive insiders and all this technological protection.

Whether you work in government or in business, this book will provide you with a high-quality blueprint, help you understand how social engineers work, and what you can do to stop them. Using made-up stories that are both entertaining and enlightening, Kevin and his co-author Bill Simon brought social engineering techniques to life. After each story, they offer practical guidance to help protect against the violations and threats they describe.

Technological security measures leave big gaps that people like Kevin will help you close. After reading this book, you will understand how to prevent, detect, and respond to information security threats.
