The arrest of the Bohemia Market administrator has put an end to the largest online marketplace for illegal goods.
Irish police seized about €6.5 million worth of cryptocurrencies during an investigation into "dark markets" and money laundering. Three people were arrested during a raid on a house in the northern part of County Dublin. The operation was carried out by armed police units with the support of specialists from the National Bureau for Combating Cybercrime.
As a result of the search, law enforcement officers found significant assets, including Bitcoin and Monero cryptocurrencies worth approximately €6.5 million. In addition, luxury items were seized, including watches of well-known brands worth more than €120,000 and two cars valued at €220,000.
Among the detainees were two men aged 23 and 49 years, suspected of assisting a criminal organization in committing a serious crime. A 32-year-old woman was also detained on suspicion of violating the law on money laundering and terrorist financing.
A 49-year-old man and woman have been released on bail and are due to appear in court in October this year. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Kevin Daniel Andrew was remanded in custody by the police, as they consider him an administrator of a large darknet market. Presumably, we are talking about Bohemia Market, which was at the center of the investigation of law enforcement officers.

Detective Michael Mullen noted that the arrests and seizure of assets were the result of a complex investigation conducted by the bureau's specialists. "These actions demonstrate Ireland's determination to prevent criminals from financially profiting from illegal activities, regardless of their form," he said.
Mullen also assured that the dark market, where illegal goods and services were sold, is no longer functioning, which can be considered an official confirmation of the closure of the Bohemia darknet market.
