Simple WarDriving Tutorial!
WarDriving is the act of searching for WIFI wireless Networks.
1) Download the free Network Stumbler program (http://www.netstumbler.com), which shows you detailed information about any nearby wireless network. For each WiFi network it uncovers, Network Stumbler tells you the network's SSID, name, manufacturer, channel, type, signal strength, signal-to-noise ratio, and whether the network's encryption is enabled.
Other Options:
Get Backtrack 3/4 Final, its linux distribution loaded with lots of useful tools, which is used for penetrating testing. http://www.backtrack-linux.org/
You can also download WireShark, another free network sniffer app at http://www.wireshark.org/
Another great network analyzer is Kismet, get it at http://www.kismetwireless.net/
Some EXTRA Useful TIPS
1) Use Windows XP PRO OS, because it is most compatible with older types of software and get CYGWIN, a bash shell to run Linux scripts on Windows through it. http://www.cygwin.com/
2) Want to go PRO? Get a linux distrubution like SuSE or Fedora or Ubuntu and install it. Most scripts like aircracks were made to be compiled and run on a linux system. Linux is also faster as it uses less resources than windows OS's, and generally has no viruses, as 90%+ viruses created were targeted onto Windows machines.
