Scammers prey on the data of Russians through fake bank apps.
A fake app masquerading as an official Sberbank service has been discovered in the Apple app store. The fake program "Sber: Online Bank" imitates the style of a well-known Russian bank, including the use of its corporate symbols.
Cao Tan Thang Steel company LTD is listed as responsible for developing the app.
Sberbank confirmed through its call center that the Sber: Online Banking app is not related to the bank's official channels. Representatives of the credit institution strongly recommend that you refrain from downloading and installing it, as this may lead to theft of users personal data.
Earlier, the Russian Interior Ministry warned that fake applications of VTB Bank and Tinkoff Bank also appeared in the App Store, the main purpose of which is to steal personal information. The agency added that both applications have inflated ratings and use the corporate colors of banks, but they have nothing to do with VTB and Tinkoff Bank.
