According to a study of the Visa payment system, only 0.2% of Russians know who can be provided with information about bank cards and how to determine a secure site for payment. This was reported by RBC with reference to a study of the Visa payment system.

As analysts found out, the vast majority (98.8%) have incomplete knowledge on this issue, which makes them vulnerable to fraudsters who use social engineering methods to steal money from cards.

The respondents had to name such rules for the safe use of cards, such as, for example, make payments only on official websites, do not write down the PIN code from the card, and do not transfer card data to third parties. Only 90% mentioned at least one method. It turned out that those who were most familiar with the rules were those who had experience of dealing with fraudsters, and the least aware of the safety rules were young people under 25.

More than half (54%) of those surveyed by company representatives said that the bank card number and the name of its owner should not be disclosed to anyone, although they can be called real bank employees. At the same time, 7% were ready to tell third parties the access code to the mobile application, 9% - the three-digit code on the back of the card, about 10% - the confirmation code of payment from SMS.

About 35% of Russians are ready to inform outsiders about the validity of the card, 49% - home address, 55% - the phone number linked to the card.

The company found that about 65% of respondents could potentially become victims of fraud when paying for goods on the Internet, because they do not pay attention to the page address and do not know that a safe address begins with https.
