In recent years, residents of Ukraine increasingly prefer cashless payments to cash. They use payment cards in retail chains, purchase goods and services in online stores, etc.
Representatives of UPC, a provider of processing and outsourcing services in Ukraine, say that consumers have begun to use payment cards more often for payments on the Internet and in self-service terminals. But ATMs are still the most common means of accessing a current account. According to recent statistics, less than 80% of card transactions were carried out through ATMs, while a year ago this figure was over 90%. The share of transactions in payment terminals increased to 17%, on the Internet - to 3%. Residents of our country prefer to pay with virtual money in supermarkets, shopping centers, clothing stores, gas stations, hotels, as well as pay for utilities and top up mobile phones. According to the NBU, in the first half of 2020, 22.5% of payments were made by bank transfer,

There are several reasons why Ukrainians prefer non-cash payments, including Internet payments. The first of them - today you can use a smartphone or any mobile phone with Internet access to make online payments. For example, in the spring of this year, the Ukrainian bank FUIB launched a new online banking service for iPhone and iPad users. The second reason is the constant growth in the number and range of goods and services that can be purchased on the Internet. Ukrainians managed to appreciate all the advantages of online trading, because often on the Internet many goods can be purchased several times cheaper than in stores. And the third reason is that recently Ukrainian banks have taken a significant step in the development of Internet and mobile banking.
