What has Microsoft decided to do to fix the problems that have occurred?

On May 29, Microsoft announced to its users that the latest update KB5037853 for Windows 11, released this week, will fix problems with File Explorer and 32 other problems in Windows.

However, the very next day after the start of distribution of the update, Microsoft added information about the already known error, confirming that users of Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2 may encounter problems in the taskbar after installing KB5037853.

"After installing this update, you may experience problems using the taskbar. The taskbar may be temporarily buggy, unresponsive, disappear or appear automatically," the company said.

"In addition, this issue may appear in the Event Viewer with the application error "Event ID 1000" in the Windows Logs section, indicating "Explorer.EXE" as the "Faulting application name" and "Taskbar.View.dll" as the "Faulting module name"".

The launch of other Microsoft updates can also not be called successful. So, update KB5037849 Preview for Windows 10 22H2 affected at least four errors. Among them are problems with Copilot, causing icons to jump between screens and lack of support when using the vertical taskbar.

Other issues include a Microsoft Connected Cache (MCC) crash when using DHCP Option 235 and errors 0x80070520 when trying to change user profile images.

As for the taskbar crashes caused by the KB5037853 update for Windows 11, Microsoft decided to urgently recall it through the Known Issue Rollback (KIR) function to cancel problematic updates delivered through Windows Update.

While the fix may take up to 24 hours to automatically propagate to consumer devices and uncontrolled business devices, users can speed up the process by manually restarting their devices.

On managed enterprise devices, Windows administrators will need to install and configure the KIR Group Policy, which can be downloaded from the official Microsoft website. After installation, the group policy will be available under Computer Configuration - > Administrative Templates - > Windows 11 22H2 KB5037853 240505_142035 Known Issue Rollback.

Detailed instructions for deploying and configuring KIR group policies are also available on the Microsoft Support site.
