According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, operatives of the department for combating cybercrime of the Zavodsky district police department detained a 29-year-old Minsk resident who installed special equipment in his apartment. It was used by criminals for their own purposes. Now the police are conducting an inspection.
As follows from the comment of the head of the defense industry department of the Zavodsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk, the detained Minsk resident installed 3 SIM boxes in his apartment for servicing 32 SIM cards. One such device could simultaneously make up to 60 calls and send up to 600 messages per hour. This equipment was used remotely by fraudsters who called Belarusians to steal money under various pretexts.
The police report that a Minsk resident received more than 150 rubles a month for placing such equipment in his apartment. According to the detainee, the fact that SIM boxes are used by fraudsters, he learned from police officers.
