Who will be the first to reach the crypto shelters?

Experts from the Seattle-based startup Unciphered have announced their ability to crack encrypted IronKey S200 USB flash drives. These devices are designed in such a way that after 10 incorrect password attempts, their contents are permanently destroyed. However, the Unciphered team has developed a unique method that allows you to bypass this limitation and make countless attempts.

This method can help Stefan Thomas, a Swiss crypto entrepreneur based in San Francisco. Thomas owns an IronKey USB key issued in 2011, which is supposed to contain the keys to 7,002 bitcoins. At current exchange rates, this is approximately $ 235 million. Thomas lost the password for this device and has already tried to restore it 8 times.

Although Unciphered has already demonstrated its ability to restore access to such devices, Thomas is still refusing their services. It has already entered into an agreement with two other teams that are trying to recover the password, and is waiting for the results of their work.

Unciphered, however, is confident in her abilities. Despite the fact that Thomas still refuses their services, the company hopes that in the future it will be able to help him and other owners of crypto assets who have lost access to their funds.
