Ukrainian authorities expect to legalize cryptocurrencies in early 2025. This was reported to local journalists by the head of the Verkhovna Rada Tax Committee Danylo Getmantsev.
“If we talk about cryptocurrency, the working group is completing the preparation of the relevant bill for the first reading. I think that the text agreed with the National Bank and the International Monetary Fund will appear after the New Year, and in the first quarter we will adopt this bill, legalize cryptocurrency”, the parliamentarian said.
He added that Ukraine does not plan to introduce a preferential tax regime for cryptocurrencies. In fact, the securities transactions model will be applied, which implies taxation of profits when withdrawing assets into fiat.
Earlier, Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Shariy suggested that Kyiv is rushing with legalization due to the reduction of aid to Kyiv from Western partners. This forces Ukraine to look for new sources of budget revenue.
