Two Belarusians to be tried for ~$800,000 cryptocurrency transactions

In Belarus, police officers revealed the facts of exchanging funds stolen from citizens for cryptocurrencies. This was reported in the local Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the investigation, for two years, a 22-year-old resident of the Brest region and a 37-year-old Minsk resident received money on their bank cards from criminal groups located abroad that engaged in vishing and phishing.

In total, the suspects conducted transactions worth over 2 million Belarusian rubles (~$800,000), receiving interest from these transactions.

Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that entrepreneurial activity in the circulation of cryptocurrencies in Belarus is allowed only to residents of the High Technology Park.

In relation to the defendants, administrative protocols were drawn up for illegal business activities, the materials were submitted to the court.

They face a large fine and the withdrawal of the entire amount that has passed through crypto wallets to the state.
