This is the eight article on this campaign.
There are different types of cyber crime and different volume of punishment are set for anyone who get caught. The good thing about cyber crime is when you get caught you will be sent to a small amoount of jail compared to those who stole the same amount physically (such as robbing the bank at gun point) Below are a list of cyber crimes and their jail punishment.
1. Carding: is the act of using peoples credit card to make online and instore purchases. Carding do not have a very long term purnishment. But most times they never get charged for one count. They get charges also for immpersonation, phishing or distrubution of malware. In 2019 Cesar Carranza was arrested in california for laundering of $2.5 million and was senteced to just 6 years in prison. Thats just 3 years in jail calendar. If you stole that money using gun, you will get not less 20 years jail term.
2. Child pornography: the goverment doesn't joke with this crime at all the give will you the same jail term as a serial killer. Jail terms are not less than 18 years. In this type of cyber crime, you create a dark website and start posting underage porn. Its hundred percent impossible for you to see any on the normal internet. This is one of the most profitable cyber crime. You can make millions of dollars in few months. You can keep your anonymity high. You can only be scared of jail.
3. Ransomware: This is also a high paying cyber crime ( pays far more than carding). Its also known as digital kidnapping. Ransomeware are apps that are distributed illegaly and when it affects your computers all your files will be locked. when you click on any file you would be asked to pay. Ransoware criminals normally demand for not less $1k. Imagine the number of reseachers, jounalists, documentaries producers and politicians with serious information they need to access. Imagine just 1000 people out of the millions of people who suffered our attack paid thats a 1 million dollars. This type of crime jail term varies due to the num ber of computers you have infiltrated. Its normally between 6 to 25 years jail term.
4. Malware: This kind of crime don't have a very long jail term except you take part in another crime alongside this. It involves sending illegal softwares. Pro malware criminals hide it inside google playstore apps, pdf files, pictures and even gif. so once it affects your device it steals all your information. They can use it to gain access to your computer camera, credit cards/ bank info. The will also steal all your logs.
5. Phishing: This is a bit similar to malware and does'nt have a long jail term. It basically involves cloning of websites. For instance you can clone amazon login page by just copying that page source code and paste it to your notepad. Then upload to your own webhost and then you spoof the url. Then when a victim try to login into amazon via your url, boom you would get his amazon logs, it either you sell it or you use it.
6. Middle man attack: This is the type of cyber hush puppy was into. It involves you buying a business email address. Then lets say the company email you bought are into strip clubs, and they want to sell their company or a strip club, you stay low and watch them chatting with their clients and when the clients want to pay, you block off the company and send your bank details, of course not made with your real details.
There are many more cybercrime but this are the popular ones. There is a popular one I skipped which is called "dating format", I skipped that because most people here don't need that.
