Robot dogs will not only bark, but also destroy tanks.

The US Marine Corps recently tested a robot dog equipped with a training version of the M72 anti-tank missile system. This is the latest example of the growing interest in arming four-legged unmanned ground-based systems.

The experiments were conducted in September at a Marine Corps base in California. The demonstration was also attended by representatives of the Research Department of the US Navy.

Based on the photos and videos provided, it can be concluded that the robot dog was created on the basis of the Chinese commercial robot Unitree Go1, which can be purchased online, including on Amazon.

A special feature of this robot is the presence of an installation for launching an M72 rocket, as well as a GoPro camera. A video from the test shows a successful rocket launch from a robot that was in a static position between sandbags for safety.

1st Lieutenant of the US Marine Corps Aaron Safadi said that such a system will allow Marines to control weapons remotely, while being safe. This is especially true when attacking armored targets in urban environments.

The Marine Corps tests have revealed a growing interest in new technologies by the military, including the United States. Despite the fact that the M72 robot in its current form may not be accepted for service, such systems are likely to find use in the arsenals of various countries.
