Specialists of the Spanish Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) have arrested two men suspected of involvement in more than a hundred cyber attacks. According to investigators, the attackers repeatedly attacked the servers of various private companies and government agencies in the kingdom.
A press release issued by Spanish law enforcement agencies indicates that similar hacking attacks have also been carried out against institutions outside the country.
It is known that in this case, both taken into custody criminals are citizens of Spain. It is expected that in the near future they will be formally charged with involvement in unauthorized access to computer networks and corporate credentials to access the databases of various institutions. After receiving the information, the attackers put up this data for sale on the black market.
It is specified that the detainees carried out such illegal activities since October 2022.
Earlier it was reported that a Madrid official considers it obvious that Russian hackers participated in attacks on the servers of state institutions in Spain. According to the metropolitan politician Miguel Lopez-Valverde, the most preferred tactic of Russian cyber specialists is to regularly send malicious emails by email.
