Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Vladimir region, with the military support of Rosgvardiya fighters in the territories of the Tver and Moscow regions, as well as in the Krasnodar Territory, detained three young people aged 18 to 25 years, suspected of assisting telephone fraudsters.
It is established that the detainees in the interests of Ukrainian remote scammers during 2023 monitored the work of couriers subordinate to malefactors in the Vladimir region and a number of other regions. The accomplices searched for messengers on the Internet, paid for their travel and accommodation in hotels and rented apartments, sent them to deceived citizens for cash, and also coordinated the movement of funds received from victims to the bank accounts of telephone scammers.
Earlier, six couriers were detained on the territory of the Vladimir region at different times. During investigations of their criminal activities, it turned out that their work was supervised by these three accomplices of scammers.
According to the police, the accomplices are involved in 14 episodes of fraud committed on the territory of Vyaznikovsky and Kameshkovsky districts of the region. The total material damage caused to the victims exceeded 2.3 million rubles.
Criminal cases were initiated on all the facts on the grounds of a crime under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Three defendants were given a preventive measure in the form of remand in custody.
