The largest manufacturer of agricultural machinery is concerned about the safety of customers and employees.

On May 11, a large-scale hacker attack occurred on the manufacturer of agricultural machinery Lemken. The operation covered all international branches of the company. In order to protect against further hacking, it was decided to immediately disable all IT systems and attract external specialists.

Lemken specializes in the production of equipment for tillage, sowing and plant protection. Founded in 1780, the organization has a long history and is one of the leading organizations in the industry.

At the moment, production is stopped, but employees of office departments can work remotely. Lemken's key contact persons are still available via email and mobile communication.

General Manager Anthony van der Ley said that the company is making every effort to analyze the consequences of the incident with the support of specialists and in cooperation with the State Criminal Police Department. Work is also underway to create a new IT infrastructure. "Now our internal processes are functioning in emergency mode. Our business partners were promptly informed of the incident." — he notes. "Initial analyses show that our customers' data was not affected due to robust security systems."

Employees were warned about possible attacks by scammers after the attack and asked to be vigilant in the network.

This is not to say that Lemken was not ready for an attack: extensive cyber defense mechanisms were already installed in corporate networks, and the cybersecurity department had detailed instructions for such incidents, which turned out to be quite effective. The company expects that with the help of its own experienced IT team and attracted specialists, the first systems will be restored within a few days.

"Of course, our daily activities will be seriously hampered in the coming days. Therefore, we look forward to understanding our customers, business partners and suppliers in connection with possible inconveniences," added Anthony van der Ley.

Lemken is confident that the efforts made will minimize the consequences and soon return to normal operation.
