"... Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic ..." A. Clarke
Focuses of language are a verbal representation of thought processes that manifest themselves in communication, by focusing attention on certain aspects of the problem space.

Beliefs are what we believe to be true about ourselves and our relationship with the world around us. Our beliefs determine what we consider possible, impossible, necessary, or inevitable.

Limiting beliefs are beliefs that create filters based on erroneous assumptions or outdated assessments that were once valuable, but no longer correspond to grown-up individuals.

Beliefs, expanding opportunities (Expanding beliefs) - beliefs that allow a person to quickly respond to what is happening in life, to act in accordance with their criteria and values, to learn from diversity.

Using this distinction, we introduce the concepts of language foci, expanding the possibilities ("expanding" language foci), and language foci, narrowing the possibilities ("limiting" language foci).

Expanding Sleight of Mouth are patterns of verbal reframing and changing the frame of an utterance, expanding the scope of a person's capabilities, allowing him to act in accordance with his criteria and values, to learn from diversity.

The purposes of using the "expanding" focuses of the language:
1. Switching attention from the framework of the problem to the framework of the result.
2. Switching attention from the error frame to the feedback frame.
3. Switching attention from the frame of impossibility to the frame “as if”.

Elements of the basic strategy for applying transformational focuses of the language:
1. Assuming a positive intention underlying statements and beliefs and the values and criteria that support them.
2. Search for alternative, more acceptable and useful ways to satisfy these positive intentions.

Limiting "focuses of the language (Limiting Sleight of mouth) - patterns of verbal reframing and changing the framework of the statement, narrowing the scope of a person's capabilities, based on erroneous assumptions or outdated assessments that prevent him from learning.

Purposes of using limiting language tricks:
1. Switching attention from the framework of the result to the framework of the problem.
2. Switching attention from the feedback frame to the error frame.
3. Switching attention from the frame “as if” to the frame of impossibility.

Elements of a basic strategy for applying limiting language tricks:
1. Assuming negative intention underlying beliefs and supporting values and criteria.
2. Search for alternative, less acceptable and less useful ways to satisfy these intentions.

" Widening" tricks of language (the Expanding Sleight of mouth) - refreĭminga patterns of verbal and change the scope of the statements that extend the scope of vozmozhnosteĭ man, allowing him to deĭstvovat in accordance with its criteria and values, to learn from diversity.

Limiting beliefs are beliefs that create filters that are not useful for a person, since they are based on erroneous assumptions or outdated estimates that were once valuable, but now no longer correspond to grown-up individuals.

Purposes of using "expanding" language tricks
  • Switching attention from the frame of the problem to the frame of the result.
  • Switching attention from the error frame to the feedback frame.
  • Switching attention from the frame of impossibility to the frame “as if”.

Elements of a basic strategy for applying transformational focuses of the language

1. Assuming a positive intention underlying limiting beliefs and the values and criteria that support them.
2. Search for alternative, more acceptable and useful ways to satisfy these positive intentions.

Tasks of using language tricks:
1. Creation of new connections, uniting generalizations and mental models of the world, and aspects that make up the megastructure of beliefs.
2. Changing the focus of a person's attention and expanding the space of problems to the space of possibilities.
3. "Conscious" mistakes, allowing to collect information about the mental model that supports the formulation of the statement (belief).

Non-verbal markers of using the focus of the tongue -
Analogy: hands are stretched out to the addressee of the message, palms up (metaphorically - "my hands are clean").

LANGUAGE FOCUS - FRAME SIZE

The purpose of using the focus of language: Re-evaluating (or strengthening) the subtext of a belief in the context of a different time frame, from the point of view of a larger number of people (or an individual), in a wider or narrower perspective.

Definitions: What time frame (longer or shorter), what is the change in the number of people involved in the situation, what breadth of perspective can change the subtext of a belief to a more positive one?

Example:
- I will not do it, it is pointless.
- If you were younger, the romantic that you came into the profession ... Interrogative version: And then? And before? And from the point vision?

Shortened version: Let's look at this in a larger (smaller, long-term) perspective ...

Non-verbal markers of using the focus of the tongue -
Changing the size of the frame: the hands move either from a small frame to a larger one, or vice versa - from a larger frame to a smaller one (metaphorically - “playing the accordion”).

LANGUAGE FOCUS - ANOTHER RESULT (CRITERION)
