The fraudster corresponded with a resident of the Carpathian region for a week. Promised a romantic meeting and allegedly sent a precious gift. Its "delivery" cost the applicant UAH 2 million. Police officers urge to be careful with "suitors" on the Internet.
A 46-year-old resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk district turned to the police of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Police Department. The woman told that suffered from swindlers. The police found out that the applicant met on the Internet with an unknown man who introduced himself as a military Johnson from the UK.
Soon the swindler reported that he allegedly sent the woman valuable gifts: military awards, medals and a suitcase of US dollars. Later, I received a message that I need to send funds "for delivery".
The trusting applicant was not confused by the fact that the funds had to be sent to 5 different accounts of Ukrainian banks. In general, it transferred almost 2 million hryvnias.
However, I never received a single "gift". So I realized that a military man named Johnson was a fraud, and I went to the police.
The police opened criminal proceedings under Article 190 (Fraud). The Criminal Code of Ukraine.
