The investigator of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Railway district of Ryazan has completed the investigation of the criminal case against a 27-year-old resident of the city of Mikhailov. She was charged with 10 crimes under Article 159 (2 and 3) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud".
The investigation found that the woman in January 2024 responded to a job offer published on the Internet. A resident of Mikhailov was offered a job as a courier with the duty to take money from citizens and transfer it through ATMs to the specified bank accounts. She agreed, although she understood the illegal nature of these actions.
According to the case file, from January 10 to January 16, 2024, the malefactor visited elderly and elderly residents of the city of Ryazan who became victims of deception at home. Previously, unknown persons called pensioners, introduced themselves as hospital employees or law enforcement officers and reported that their close relatives were in the hospital as a result of an accident or had a serious accident with the victims themselves. Allegedly, a large sum of money was required for an urgent operation or settlement of the situation with law enforcement officers and injured people. Believing the scammers and wanting to help their families, the victims agreed to transfer money to the courier woman.
Thus, the malefactor, on the instructions of the curator, moving by taxi and introducing herself with fictitious names, visited 10 addresses of pensioners. The victims gave her various amounts of money – from 100 to 950 thousand rubles. The total damage amounted to 3,440,000 rubles. After that, the woman went to the nearest ATM and transferred money to her accomplices, leaving herself the agreed percentage.
According to all these facts, the investigators opened criminal cases. After the criminal activity of the woman was stopped by employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Ryazan region, all 10 cases were combined into one production. At the request of the investigator, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of remand in custody against the detainee.
The investigation is now complete. The criminal case with the indictment approved by the prosecutor was sent to the court.
