The cyberattack on Change Healthcare reminded the authorities that the evil has not disappeared.

The US State Department has again announced a $10 million reward for any information that helps identify members of the Blackcat hacker group. This group, which specializes in ransomware, has repeatedly disrupted the computer systems of critical infrastructure facilities in the United States and around the world.

In late February, Blackcat launched a large-scale attack on Change Healthcare, the technology arm of health insurance giant UnitedHealth Group. The attack led to failures in the processing of insurance payments worth more than $14 billion, leaving patients and doctors without payment for insurance claims.

The disruption of Change Healthcare systems caused by a cyberattack has hit public health centers serving more than 30 million low-income and uninsured patients particularly hard.

According to media reports, UnitedHealth Group paid hackers a $ 22 million ransom to unlock the systems, but it is unclear whether the Blackcat group fulfilled its part of the deal. Shortly after the attack, hackers issued a fake press release claiming that their operations were allegedly shut down by law enforcement, trying to mislead people and convince them that they were stopping their activities.
