The FBI has arrested an attacker who, according to the prosecution, planned to" put " 70% of the Internet through a massive attack on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center. 28-year-old Seth Pendley from Texas was detained.

Law enforcement authorities know that Pendley tried to undermine the AWS data center located in Ashburn, Virginia. To do this, the accused allegedly purchased one of the types of explosives-C-4.

According to the attacker's calculations, this operation would have completely disabled 70% of the Internet. Nevertheless, the novice bomber was not very far-sighted, as in January he posted his intentions on the MyMilitia forum. Of course, since then, law enforcement agencies have "maintained" an account under the nickname "Dionysus".

At the end of January, Pendley was already using the Signal messenger to communicate with one of the suppliers of explosives, who turned out to be an informant of the FBI. In February, the attacker even shared a hand-drawn plan of the AWS data center.

Pendley's idea was a holy war with the oligarchs, because he believed that the data center he had chosen provided hosting for the FBI, CIA, and other intelligence agencies that, in his opinion, covered for the oligarchs and created comfortable living conditions for them.

At the meeting, the explosives salesman showed Pendley how to handle the C-4 and perform the detonation. As soon as the attacker loaded the substance into the car, he was immediately detained by the FBI.
