The Russian Embassy in the United States of America expressed its readiness to provide the necessary consular and legal assistance to Russian citizen Denis Postovoy, detained on charges of conspiracy to violate the Export Control Reform Act (ECRA).
The embassy became aware of the detention of the Russian despite the fact that there was no official notification from US law enforcement agencies, follows from a comment posted on the official TG channel of the diplomatic mission.
"We requested information about the whereabouts of the Russian from the State Department. Upon receipt of it, we will contact our compatriot. We will provide him with the necessary consular and legal assistance", the statement emphasizes.
The guard was detained at his place of residence in the city of Saratosa, Florida. He is charged, as mentioned above, with conspiracy to violate ECRA, carry out smuggling, money laundering and commit fraudulent actions.
The indictment alleges that since about February 2022, Postovoy allegedly purchased and illegally exported military microelectronic components from the United States to Russia, in particular for unmanned aerial vehicles, the US Department of Justice reports.
"Through a network of companies he owns or operates in Russia, Hong Kong and other countries, Postovoy and individuals in his network purchased microelectronics from U.S. distributors and exported them to Russia without the necessary licenses from the U.S. Department of Commerce", the Justice Department said.
