Imagine a drone that can fly and swim.

Amphibious drones that can operate both underwater and on land are becoming increasingly popular. One of these devices is the Onyx Unmanned Ground Vehicle, created by the Canadian company Deep Trekker. This company is known for its high-quality underwater ROVs (remotely operated vehicles).

Onyx is equipped with motorized wheels with rubber tires for driving over various obstacles. The drone can dive to a depth of up to 50 meters. On land, control is done wirelessly, while underwater, a communication cable is required.

The Onyx case is mainly made of 6061 anodized aluminum. The device is controlled by a hand-held remote that displays live video on an integrated 7-inch screen. As standard, the Onyx is equipped with a 1080p camera that can be tilted. Four LED floodlights with a total output of 1,100 lumens are provided for operation in dark conditions. Buyers can opt for a 4K resolution camera or additional cameras on the back and sides.

The Onyx is powered by a 232WH lithium-ion battery that provides up to two hours of battery life. If necessary, the drone can be connected to an external power source.

The device measures 599 mm long, 428 mm wide and 250 mm high. The maximum speed of Onyx is 1.1 meters per second. Depending on the intended use, you can add sonar or LiDAR modules to the drone.
