Operatives of the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Mogilev identified two 17-year-old girls who handed over their bank card information to Internet scammers.
It was established that a 17-year-old student from one of the vocational lyceums of the regional center responded in a messenger to a publication about making quick money. An anonymous interlocutor suggested that she issue a bank payment card in her name and transfer all the details to him for a fee. The girl told her classmate about this method of “part-time work”, inviting her to participate as well. Both Mogilev residents fulfilled the conditions, but after receiving the necessary data, the scammers did not pay the girls and stopped communicating.
Investigators have opened a criminal case against the defendants for illegal circulation of means of payment.
Law enforcement officers note that scammers mainly attract young people to such illegal activities. By providing access to their payment cards, a person becomes an accomplice of cyber fraudsters, who subsequently launder money obtained by criminal means. There is criminal liability for this.
