Algorithms and codes are becoming the new shield of national security.

The US Department of Defense is developing a program to attract leading specialists from the technology sector to participate in military service as reservists. As part of the initiative, it is planned to invite technical directors and other high-ranking experts for partial service in the armed forces. These specialists will be involved in projects related to cybersecurity and data analysis.

Brynt Parmiter, head of talent management at the Ministry of Defense, explains: "We are building a talent base that will help solve national security problems for many years to come". Currently, the armed forces are already cooperating with civilian specialists in the medical and legal fields, as well as with professionals in the field of cybersecurity. However, the new initiative will be the first attempt to attract technical experts to paid service as military personnel in the reserve.

It is planned that the first specialists will begin their service this year. Initially, the program will involve several dozen participants, and then its scale may grow to several thousand over the coming years.

Parmiter stressed that there are still unresolved issues - for example, the distribution of specialists to military units and the determination of their rank. However, he has the authority to launch the project and has already received support from management.

Bringing tech leaders into the military reserve is a step toward creating a new security model where advanced technology becomes an integral part of protecting the nation. The integration of business and the military reflects the realization that the future of war is decided not only on the battlefield, but also in cyberspace.
