Chilanzar District Criminal Court of Tashkent has sentenced a 24-year-old student of Termez State University for selling Notcoin. "Newspaper.uz" I have studied the court's decision.

According to the case file, the Tashkent Police Department received a complaint on June 1 and conducted a pre-investigation check. It is established that the student I. N. used his phone and plastic card for illegal activities with cryptoassets.

At the court hearing, the young man pleaded guilty to committing an offense and stated that he collected a "crypto asset in Telegram" and sold Notcoin for 800 thousand soums (~$62.41). He asked the court to reduce the sentence, saying that he did not know about the illegality of this action. The student also indicated that he is the sole breadwinner in the family.

The court imposed 10 days of administrative arrest on the young man under part 1 of Article 155-4 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (illegal acquisition, sale or exchange of crypto assets-entails administrative arrest for up to 15 days or a fine of 20 to 30 BRV). This responsibility was introduced at the beginning of the year.

The court also ordered to destroy the student's Galaxy A30 phone and bank plastic card.

Recall that from January 2024, Uzbekistan introduced fines and terms for illegal operations with cryptocurrencies.

The country also has a mandatory registration for cryptocurrency service providers. Since August 2022, the authorities have blocked unlicensed trading platforms.
