China's Ministry of State Security has said that undersea cables have become a tool for stealing intelligence and achieving geopolitical goals. The report was made on Friday and was based on materials released by former US intelligence official Edward Snowden.
According to Snowden, the US National Security Agency has been implementing the "Upstream" program for decades, parallel to the "Prism" program, using the advantages of bandwidth for round-the-clock large-scale monitoring and listening to global underwater cables.
