It is quite convenient to divide the interests of a person into 6 categories. These are the so-called "Sorting Gates" - the life guidelines of a person - those things that are important to him. The person will be happy to discuss them, immediately becoming boring if you choose something else. True, it is not at all necessary that if the BC coincides, the interlocutor will agree with you. It just means that you will most likely be able to talk and find a common topic of conversation - but you can argue to the point of hoarseness.

True, a person usually has more developed two or three Sorting Gates, for example (People and Process; Things, Values and Time).

People. Who?

For him, people are important, who and with whom. And first of all, he finds out who and speaks mainly about people. If he is invited somewhere, the most important question for him is: - Who will be there?

Communication professions usually imply “people” or “values”. For example, a teacher with VS "people" will be interested in people, and with VS "values" - the achievement of certain ideals or the embodiment of ideas. And the behavior of these teachers will be very different.

Things and Actions. What?

These people pay a lot of attention to things and objects. If you ask him what he paid attention to in the first place, he will begin to describe the furnishings, clothes, wallpaper color or furniture arrangement. In addition, this will include "materialized processes" - actions. The words that describe them are called nominalizations: love, happiness, friendship, faith, hope ...

If the person of the sun "process" to the question: - What will be there? - will answer: "talk", "communicate", "eat", then the person of action will answer: "talk", "communication", "food".

Most likely, the speech will contain many nouns, nominalizations and few verbs and, in general, descriptions of processes or a sequence of actions.

Values. What for?

Valuable ideas about the world and values are important for him. When talking, he pays attention first of all to them and speaks more from these positions. He tries to determine the cause or meaning of the action. The question "why all this is needed?" goes through all his reasoning.

It is possible that he will use many nominalizations: love, happiness, friendship, faith, hope ... But unlike the “thing”, he will talk about how important and valuable it is.

Process. How?

It is very important for him how to do something. And first of all, he draws attention to "what we will do and how to solve this problem." In speech, this can be presented as a kind of sequence of events: "autumn comes in summer, winter comes in autumn."

But it should not be confused with the sun "time". For the Armed Forces the “process” is important the sequence of actions, events, and for the Armed Forces “time” is when it happened. And if in the first case there will always be a certain sequence of people, events, things, then in the second case the emphasis will be precisely on the time of events: - "1845, last spring, the day before yesterday, a month ago."

Time. When?

Time is very important for him. He is time oriented and well versed in it, it is important for him when it was, what time, what day of the week, hours minutes. And if he is invited somewhere he will ask: - When will it start and when will it end?

- It was on Tuesday. Not on Wednesday ... Although it is possible on Tuesday, but most importantly, it was at half past five!

A place. Where?

The place where something will happen, its location. Most likely, this person will be happy to talk about the places he has been or is going to be. Or where he was at some point in time. He may be interested in where he will sit or in what place they will gather for a party.

Please note that there may be several preferred aircraft - usually 2-3. Moreover, in different situations, this can change.

You can talk about the same thing, why you need it, what to do with it and who, in fact, needed it. Coincidence on BC does not mean coincidence of views, but only common points. A Communist with a Democrat can argue to the point of hoarseness, but their points of view are different, and the Armed Forces are the same.

Identical VS just mean that you will generally speak on a given topic, that it is important to you, but it does not mean that opinions coincide.

I would like to draw your attention to some things that relate to the Sorting Gate. For example, if someone in the BC has "People", then they can maintain any conversation, just when the topic is not theirs - they will become boring and uninteresting.

To work with people in the Armed Forces, there must be either “People” or “Values”, but at the same time, people-oriented and value-oriented teachers will be very different: some will be interested in students, and the second - in the embodiment of their ideas. And they will behave accordingly in completely different ways. I can't say that one is better or worse, but there will certainly be differences. I think you can remember both teachers of the first type and the second.

If some VS are very important for a person, then sometimes his behavior can seem very funny. For example, “Values” are quite important for me (by the way, “People” too) and if we are discussing some idea or topic the question “why?” requires an obligatory answer for me. Moreover, it is not entirely important that this necessarily coincide with my ideas about this, it is just that sometimes I am completely unable to continue the conversation until I have clarified this issue. They answered, even complete nonsense - everything is fine. I calm down and we can discuss further. It is especially fun when someone from the company VS Process. It's all! He does not understand what I want from him, and I - what from me. Rather, now I already understand a little, but before there were a lot of problems.

Another funny thing. I have a friend who exclusively takes pictures of nature views - there are practically no people, unless they accidentally got there. I, on the other hand, are very fond of making portraits and there are practically no photographs where there are no people. If there are any species, then there must be someone there.

Generally speaking, is the sun one of the most important filters of perception? And while most people are able to adjust to some extent, the VS can impose very rigid boundaries. A person, as it were, can change something in himself, but only within his Sorting Gates. That is why it is very useful to learn to pay attention not only to familiar topics, but to others as well. At the same time, perception will in some way expand, and you will be able to discover in life a lot of things unknown to you, to which you have completely ignored before.
