In this case, together with Emelchenkov, his former colleague Andrey Sinichkin, who previously held the position of head of the IT Services management department at the Post of Russia, is also being held. Sinichkin, according to a court decision, will spend three years in a general regime penal colony and will not be able to hold senior positions for two and a half years. He was found guilty under the same article as Emelchenkov-Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
It could have been worse
Emelchenkov's sentence could have been significantly harsher if the judge had taken into account the state prosecution's request. It requested for him, as well as for Sinichkin, five and a half years in prison.
