The new version of macOS has stirred up the information security community.

The new version of the macOS 15 Sequoia operating system has caused problems with a number of popular security tools. Social media users and members of a dedicated Slack channel dedicated to macOS are actively discussing problems.

At the moment, it is unclear what exactly is causing the failures, but several products used by both private users and corporate customers have been affected. This has led to significant discontent among specialists working with security tools for macOS.

Patrick Wardle, founder of DoubleYou and a Mac and iOS security expert, expressed his disappointment with the situation. Wardle noted that developers have to face negative user backlash over and over again, although the fault is a failure in the Apple system. According to the expert, if the company paid more attention to testing its products, rather than marketing, such problems could be avoided.

On the day of the release of macOS Sequoia, CrowdStrike's sales manager reported in the Slack channel that the company was forced to delay support for the new version of the operating system. According to the manager, the changes in Sequoia's network architecture were so significant that CrowdStrike was unable to provide updates in the first hours after the release of the system, as originally planned. The company has also sent a notification to its customers about the problems that have arisen.

The manager noted that other software vendors are experiencing similar difficulties, and added that CrowdStrike is working on a fix that will likely have to be implemented through a software update. He stressed that the delay in the release was a necessary measure to ensure the safety of customers.

Reports of issues with CrowdStrike products began to appear on Reddit as well. A company spokesperson confirmed that CrowdStrike is awaiting an update from Apple to fully support macOS Sequoia and forwarded all additional questions to Apple itself, which has not yet responded to requests.

In addition, SentinelOne has also warned its users not to update the system until a compatible agent is released. Similar messages came from ESET, which recorded problems with network connections after updating macOS.

Microsoft Defender for macOS users faced similar difficulties, and security researcher Will Dorman reported problems with DNS and firewall operation on his machine. Researcher Wacław Jacek noted that the system's built-in firewall may begin to block access to the Internet after installing the update and suggested a possible solution to the problem.

The situation with the update also affected users of the Firefox browser, as evidenced by discussions on Reddit.
