In 2024, the Security Scanner system, which operates in test mode, detected over 26 thousand critical vulnerabilities, according to Sergey Khutortsev, Director of the Center for Monitoring and Control of the Public Communications Network (CMU SSOP) of Roskomnadzor.
At the Spektr 2024 forum, the head of the CMU SSOP spoke about the main task of the system - cleaning the Russian segment of the Internet from malicious software and infected devices. The main focus is on quickly detecting administration errors, unprotected databases on the Internet, vulnerable ports and resources, faster than Western partners.
According to information from the presentation, more than 300 organizations received notifications about potential threats. The system automatically generates recommendations for eliminating identified problems and sends notifications to the owners of information systems, telecom operators and hosting providers.
Work on the project is being carried out in cooperation with regulators, the FSB and the FSTEC of Russia.
Khutortsev added that after vulnerabilities are identified, the speed of their elimination is monitored. In the absence of a response from the owner to warnings, there are mechanisms that allow blocking vulnerabilities at the level of technical means of countering threats, both temporarily and permanently. According to Khutortsev, such measures will have a positive impact on the overall level of security.
