The new feature will be available in the coming months and will provide additional security.

Microsoft introduces new security mechanisms in the Edge browser aimed at preventing screenshots from being taken from web pages. The innovation is designed to strengthen data security and prevent their leakage through screenshots that can be sent to competitors, relatives or journalists.

The company explained that the policy of preventing taking screenshots will work on pages designated as confidential or protected. Company IT administrators will be able to mark these pages as defined in various Microsoft policies for services such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Defender for Cloud Applications, Microsoft Intune Mobile Application Management, and Microsoft Pureview.

It is not yet clear whether third-party tools for taking screenshots or recording videos from such pages will be blocked. Microsoft added that the innovation will be available to corporate customers in the coming months.

It is worth noting that this feature is introduced immediately after the announcement of the Recall AI tool , which takes screenshots of the laptop every few seconds. It will be exclusively available on new Copilot+devices. The Recall function can view all past user activity, including files, photos, emails, and browser history. Microsoft claims that the snapshots are encrypted and stored locally, and users can manage their collection.

In addition to banning screenshots, Microsoft will offer a way to force Edge for Business users to automatically update their browsers. This measure is designed to close zero-day vulnerabilities in a timely manner and improve security.

"The Edge Management Service will allow IT administrators to see which devices have outdated and vulnerable versions of Edge installed," Microsoft explained. "It will also provide control measures, such as forcing the browser to restart to install updates, automatically updating the browser, or enabling advanced security mode for additional protection."

In addition, Microsoft has announced an AI-enabled video streaming translation feature in future Edge updates.
