Bonjour, gentlemen carders, running in the shadows and just random fellow travelers. Today, using the example of one of the applications, we will analyze how to encrypt calls from mobile on Android. It will be useful in the future when we start working with schemas.

RedPhone is a mobile application for Android that allows you to make encrypted voice calls over Wi-Fi or over the mobile Internet using regular phone numbers. RedPhone only encrypts calls between two RedPhone users or between RedPhone and Signal users.

You can call other RedPhone users from within the app itself or using the standard Android dialer. RedPhone automatically prompts you to switch to an encrypted call.

Download and install RedPhone
On an Android phone, launch the Google Play store and search for "RedPhone". Select the "RedPhone :: Secure Calls" app.

Why can't you download RedPhone without registering on Google Play?
Many people would prefer to download RedPhone from sources that are not related to Google's Google Play service: there is less risk of data being spoofed or collected by third parties. Unfortunately, today developers use part of Google's infrastructure to update software and send push messages. The developers ' position (using TextSecure as an example) is set out here.

Register your mobile number

After the installation is complete, open the RedPhone program. You will be asked to register your mobile phone number.

After completing the registration of the phone number, RedPhone will send you a verification code in an SMS message. This way the program can verify that the number really belongs to you. In response to the request, enter the received code. You have successfully installed RedPhone and are ready to make encrypted calls!

Using RedPhone
To use RedPhone for calls, the person you want to call must also have RedPhone (or Signal) installed on their mobile phone. If you try to call someone who doesn't have a RedPhone, the program will prompt you to send an SMS invitation to your interlocutors to use the RedPhone service, but you won't be able to call from RedPhone (yet).

When you call another RedPhone or Signal user (using a standard dialer or from the app), the program will offer a random pair of words. This pair will allow you to verify the authenticity of the interlocutor and their keys (key verification).

The most reliable way to verify the caller's identity is to use the mentioned pair of words and another communication channel. You can read the words aloud if you know the other person's voice, but keep in mind that some sophisticated attackers can fake the voice as well. The spoken and written word pairs must match.

In general, cyberstalkers, in our very difficult, but very digital time, there are not many such applications on Android, but they are there. In this article, I reviewed only one application.
