Russian web users were warned about fraudulent resources masquerading as air ticket sales sites. Group-IB specialists have identified over 100 fake online platforms.

Some of the discovered resources of cyber fraudsters have already been blocked, said Yakov Kravtsov, head of the anti-counterfeiting department of the company's brand protection department.

“A sharp increase in the number of phishing and fraudulent web pages disguised as air ticket sales has been observed over the past one and a half to two months. Most of these resources have already been blocked, "RIA Novosti quotes Kravtsov.

The jump in the number of fraudulent sites is truly impressive. For example, at the end of July there were three dozen of them, in mid-August there were already more than a hundred.

In addition to selling air tickets, such resources are covered by the topic of room reservation, car rental and similar services. Sometimes attackers even promise to refund money for tickets purchased from a well-known Russian airline.

The main goal of the criminals is to steal money and bank card data belonging to Russians. To mislead gullible citizens, brands of well-known ticket aggregators and carriers are used.

As always, experts advised Russians to be careful when choosing a resource where they plan to purchase an air ticket or book a hotel room.
