Hacking of online accounting opened access to the data of large companies.

The ALPHV/BlackCat ransomware group announced that it has gained access to the data of Roblox and Twitch companies. According to preliminary data, access became possible as a result of hacking Tipalti, a provider of accounting software.

ALPHV has published information about Tipalti on its website. According to the criminals, they penetrated Tipalti's systems in early September and went unnoticed for a long time, allegedly stealing more than 265 GB of confidential data. The stolen data includes information about the company's employees and customers. Ransomware has started blackmailing Tipalti customers, which is most likely an attempt to speed up ransom negotiations

ALPHV/BlackCat post on the leak site

Tipalti's website states that the company specializes in developing software for automating payments with suppliers, purchases, and international payments for businesses. Tipalti's other clients include the social network X, GoDaddy, National Geographic, Business Insider, SkillShare, and Canva.

In a post on its website, ALPHV threatened not only Tipalti, but also the company's major customers, such as Roblox and Twitch. The group clearly aims to use recognizable brands as an "example" to increase pressure on Tipalti. The attackers also made separate threats to Roblox, stating their intention to personally extort ransom from affected parties, including content creators whose tax documents were allegedly disclosed as a result of the Tipalti hack. Tipalti, Roblox and Twitch did not comment on the situation.
