Europol has disabled the group's infrastructure.

International law enforcement agencies conducted an operation to block the site of leaks of the RagnarLocker ransomware group. The operation involved the Europol Cybercrime Center (EC3), the FBI, the German Federal Criminal Office (Bundeskriminalamt, BKA) and many other organizations.

In January, the FBI took over the operation to neutralize the Hive group, issuing decryption keys to more than 300 victims. According to calculations, the potential savings from buybacks amounted to about $130 million. The FBI then noted that only about 40% of Hive victims contacted the FBI after the incident.

A special feature of the RagnarLocker group was that cybercriminals tried to convince their victims not to contact law enforcement agencies. Moreover, RagnarLocker hackers threatened their victims with the publication of their data if they contacted the police or the FBI. Europol declined to comment on the operation, saying it was "part of the action against the RagnarLocker group."

The RagnarLocker group appeared in late 2019-early 2020. In March 2022, the FBI and CISA alerted the Ragnar Locker group, reporting that hackers had penetrated the networks of at least 52 organizations in 10 key infrastructure sectors, stealing confidential information and encrypting data. The FBI alert also included details about attack methods, bitcoin addresses for receiving ransoms, and email addresses of the group's operators.
