The prosecutor of the Korosten District Prosecutor's Office sent an indictment to the court against a local resident on the facts of unauthorized interference in the operation of electronic communication networks, which led to a violation of the established procedure for routing information, committed during martial law (Part 5 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, a 42-year-old resident of Korosten, in order to enrich herself, installed specialized telecommunications equipment in the apartment. I also purchased SIM cards of various Ukrainian operators for registering virtual mobile numbers.
Based on this technical base, she created numerous accounts in instant messengers, as well as in Telegram, which she sold and rented out. The profit was received on an electronic wallet.
The accused provided services to clients of other states, including representatives of the aggressor country-Russian online services. This is how anonymous accounts were registered in social networks, mail servers, and so on. Created bot farms spread Russian propaganda.
To ensure the functioning of the bot farm during 2023-2024, the woman used more than 1000 SIM cards.
During the search at the place of residence, evidence of a crime was seized, in particular, a significant number of SIM cards, special telecommunications equipment, computer equipment, bank cards, draft records.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Korostensk district Police Department. Operational support was provided by the SBU in the region and the Department of combating Cybercrime in the Zhytomyr region.
The sanction of this article provides for punishment, in particular, imprisonment for a term of ten to fifteen years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
